What is a Luffa?

Luffa is a fruit that grows on a vine and is in the cucumber family. Luffa when picked early can be eaten, however when they are left to fully ripen, the fully developed fruit is used as a luffa scrubbing sponge which is used in bathrooms and kitchens.
